For Babies - Biodynamic craniosacral therapy can be very effective in supporting the post birth relational field to settle, helping to establish healthy and secure bonding between mother and baby.
For some, the process of birth may have been overwhelming and traumatic, and some residual shock may be present as tension and fear held in the body. Craniosacral therapy can give you the space to process these effects safely and find some calm at the centre of the storm.
This can be a very inclusive process incorporating dad and siblings too, or a valuable time-out for you and your baby from a busy schedule and family environment. You can cuddle your baby and breast-feed during the treatment.
Toddlers can be read to or engage in play with you and/or the therapist during the session.
Craniosacral therapy may support your baby with common complaints including -
-
Colic
-
Reflux and allergies
-
Torticollis (wry neck)
-
Establishing and supporting breast-feeding
-
Encouraging sleeping patterns
During pregnancy - The gentle and calm nature of craniosacral therapy means that it is a safe choice for women in pregnancy. Craniosacral therapy can be very nurturing for you as a way of preparing for Birth, supporting you and baby during the pregnancy, and help to provide some relief from pregnancy associated symptoms such as lower back pain, sore swollen feet, and can help to reduce fatigue by balancing the hormonal and nervous systems.
Neuro biology and psychoneuroendocrinology recognise that the prenatal experience of the baby in the womb is heavily influenced by environment or inner state of the mother, she literally 'is' the lived experience of the baby during his or her time in the womb. During the pregnancy Mum's experience and emotional tone contribute to the developing sense of wellness and danger that baby takes on. Craniosacral therapy is ideal for providing a space where stress levels during pregnancy can be eased, allowing time for wellbeing and bonding to be nurtured.
For Children - Craniosacral therapy can be beneficial for many common
behavioural, social and learning difficulties. The unhurried, sensitive and
patient led nature of the treatment process allows the physical and emotional
needs of the individual child to be met at their own pace.
